Fitness First Launches Wii Fit Peripherals

UK-based gym chain Fitness First has partnered with European accessories manufacturer Blaze to put its name on a Wii game and peripherals.

This September sees the release of NewU Fitness First Personal Trainer (available for pre-order from Amazon.co.uk) which isn’t just about fitness; it also contains a comprehensive, user friendly healthy eating program designed by the nutritional experts of well known TV show and book range ‘You Are What You Eat’.

I don’t think Gillian McKeith makes an appearance but the game is designed to give you all the motivation and support you need to carry on! What will definitely spur you on is the specially designed Workout Kit to compliment the game…

What’s included is a branded yoga mat, balance board silicon cover, wrist weights and a Wiimote holder that straps onto the player’s leg.

Of course, this is designed to be used with anything Wii Fitness related and you probably have most of this stuff anyway – but still, I think it looks really pretty. Oh sorry, I mean ‘professional’. It certainly gives your living room the gym feel doesn’t it?

No release date as yet, but we can safely assume it will also be out in September.

Wii Remote and Nunchuck Holsters

Ooh, another accessory for the Wii Fit.. holsters for your Wii remote from DreamGEAR, how very useful. Next time you are having a little jog in Wii Fit island (or mad sprint – you’re not the only one who spends most of the course rolling) make sure your Wii remote is in it’s little holster and clipped to your exercise gear or belt.

No more worrying about the remote falling out of your tracksuit pocket, no more slipping down the leg and you having to stop your run to get it out. No more…um… inconvenience of any kind! If you’re gonna be the best you are gonna have to take things seriously – when you train you have to concentrate and this belt will show the other Mii’s you mean business. Dumbells for the Wii?

If you felt your arms were not getting enough of a workout on the Wii, that’s all about to change. Working out on the Wii is about to become even more effective with the introduction of the Riiflex.

The Riiflex is a weighted attachment for the Wii Remote which turns it into a weighted dumbell. It will be available in 2lb and 5lb (just over 2kg) increments. The design won’t interfere with access to your Wii Remote, so you can pump Wii, sorry I mean iron, and push buttons all at the same time.

What you see in the image is just a protoype but the product is currently being developed. US customers can secure a pre-order for a $5 deposit. There is no news as to whether this will be available in the UK.

Although this is patent-pending, there is no doubt we will now see a whole load of similar products over here soon. It’s such an obvious idea isn’t it? I wish I had thought of it myself!
