The good news is the Wii Fit Balance Board does both!
Nintendo’s Balance Board really does represent an innovation in terms of interactive game play, and creator Shigeru Miyamoto is rightly proud of the creation.
Initially the board had just one pressure sensor, but in development it became apparent that more than one sensor would be required and eventually four were installed. This allows for full motion capture to be achieved.
Interesting Fact : The sensors on the Wii Fit Balance Board were inspired by the way Sumo wrestlers weigh themselves using two scales as opposed to one.
